Departure Day minus 6

Thanks for joining me on a voyage of discovery as I get close to jetting off to the University of Nottingham's campuses in Malaysia and China: Semenyih and Ningbo.

Why? To train IT colleagues based at the two campuses on and support the deployment of, an application called Supportworks (hence the title and address of this blog). Supportworks is a 'service management' application and is used to manage IT activities (e.g. when things break or access to systems is requested). Anyway, enough of that....

Of greater interest, I hope to meet some fascinating people and see a part of the World I've never visited before.

So, Chris (a colleague) and I fly out from Heathrow with Malaysian Airlines at 12.00 mid-day on Saturday 7th June. After that, the visit looks something like this:

  • 8th June: arrive Kuala Lumpur @ 7.35 local time
  • 9th to 13th June: do the Supportworks stuff on campus at Seminyih
  • 14th June: fly off to Shanghai and then travel to Ningbo (about 2 hours by train)
  • 16th to 20th June: repeat the Supportworks training etc... on the Ningbo campus
  • 21st June: return home via KL

Less than  a week before the flight and the only concern is whether or not I'll get my passport (complete with China visa) back in time. I've been assured that it will be but if it doesn't, this could be the shortest blog on record.

I will post photos during the visit and here's one for starters (to give the illusion that I am prepared - really)...
